Equipment Program

Equipment Program

The Equipment Program, through Program Streams, funds and arranges equipment and home modifications for eligible South Australians who are otherwise unfunded for these services through Commonwealth Government options.

The program provides eligible people with equipment and home modifications for:

  • Mobility
  • Access
  • Transfers
  • Bathing and personal care
  • Pressure management
  • Seating
  • Communication.

Equipment and home modifications are provided by preferred suppliers of the Equipment Program.

Commonly prescribed items, like manual wheelchairs, shower chairs and supports and single-use items, will be provided through ALTER.

ALTER is a not-for-profit, assistive technology organisation with experience in providing, delivering, repairing and maintaining equipment.

Services are provided through five Program Streams, to people who are:

  • Requiring an Advanced Palliative Equipment Response (APER), or
  • Aged 65 years or over, are clients of the Commonwealth Continuity of Support Programme (CoS)
and already have equipment or require customised mobility equipment, or
  • Adults with chronic health conditions, or

Specific eligibility, assessment, ordering and equipment review is included for each stream.

Qualified health professionals and registered nurses’ complete assessments and make equipment selections.
